Real Madrid have made the decision to go after a long-term Dani Carvajal replacement, and more precisely, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. The press in Madrid believe it will be a matter of when, not if the England international joins Jude Bellingham in the Spanish capital.
According to Marca, Alexander-Arnold will not sign a contract renewal with Liverpool, leaving him free to sign a precontract with Real Madrid in January. Following the long-term injury to Carvajal though, Los Blancos could do with him in the winter transfer window.
According to Marca, the question is whether Trent Alexander-Arnold will join #RealMadrid in January or the summer. Los Blancos have good relations with #LFC, and do not want to overstep the mark. pic.twitter.com/FRr2pct75g

For Real Madrid, they will base their winter transfer market how things go against Liverpool in the Champions League on the 27th of November. With Alexander-Arnold though, it will come down to whether the Reds are willing to deal him for a fee in January. The Madrid-based outlet say that both clubs know that he will not sign a new deal at Anfield, but Real Madrid will not overstep the mark when it comes to trying to sign him in January.
It is still regarded as unlikely that Alexander-Arnold could arrive in the winter window, given Liverpool are not flush for alternatives, and finding a replacement would be difficult. Marca are the second source in Spain to claim Alexander-Arnold will not sign a new deal with Liverpool, and certainly things are not looking good for Arne Slot’s chances of retaining him.
