On Sunday, Dani Ceballos was spotted taking in Real Betis’ match against Celta Vigo at the Benito Villamarin. It came 24 hours after he was an unused substitute during Real Madrid’s 4-0 thrashing of Osasuna, which further emphasised his position as a lowly squad player at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ceballos has regularly been linked with a move away from Real Madrid in recent years, with a return to Betis having seemed most likely. Joaquin Sanchez, who is a Betis legend and also part of the club’s sporting department, recently spoke to Cadena SER about the midfielder, as per Diario AS.
“Ceballos will always be an important player, and here he always feels at home. He’s always an appetising footballer, he’s a Real Madrid player and with those things you always have to be careful. He will always be at home here, we are talking about a differential footballer.
“During the summer there were contacts, but no agreement was reached. Right now there is nothing, but I can’t tell you that it’s ruled out.”
Real Madrid are expected to pursue the signing of a midfielder next summer, and when that happens, Ceballos may be afforded the opportunity to leave. If that happens, Betis would surely be looking to bring him home.
