Getafe midfielder Chrisantus Uche is one of the stories of the season in Spain, and that story is reaching ears and eyes even further afield. The 21-year-old is enjoying a fine debut campaign under Jose Bordalas, after scoring on his top-level debut.

His remarkable rise has attracted plenty of attention, but according to Matteo Moretto on Relevo, so has his form. Various sides have been to watch the young midfielder, who has become a fixture for Los Azulones, including the Nigeria national team, with the Super Eagles considering a call-up. Another interested is party are English giants Chelsea. The Blues have form for spending on young talents that are raw with high upside, and in that sense, Uche fits the bill, with his speed and power made for the Premier League.

It is not yet clear what the value of Uche’s release clause is, but no doubt a number of teams will be looking at him as a potentially sound investment. Getafe have been facing salary limit issues over the last 12 months, and having signed him for just €500k in February, will make a nice profit on him if he does go anywhere. A new fan favourite at the Coliseum, Bordalas and Getafe will be hoping he sticks around for a little while yet.
