On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Aston Villa defender Pau Torres would not be involved for Spain during the ongoing international break. La Roja face Denmark and Switzerland in their final two UEFA Nations League group matches, but they will do so without Torres, who is suffering with discomfort.
Within a few hours, the Spanish Football Federation have announced his replacement: Pau Cubarsi. The 17-year-old had originally been left out of the squad due to suffering a worrying facial injury during Barcelona’s Champions League victory over Crvena Zvedza last week, but he will now be risked by Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente.

Barcelona will be disappointed at Cubarsi’s call-up, as they would have undoubtedly preferred him to rest over the next two weeks – especially given the amount of minutes that he has played since the start of the season. Instead, he will have to wait for a period of recuperation.
