Valencia are looking to strengthen in the final days of the transfer market, following confirmation that Giorgi Mamardashvili would be moving to Liverpool on Tuesday. Los Che are looking at Aston Villa midfielder Enzo Barrenechea.
The 23-year-old Argentinian midfielder arrived at Villa from Juventus in an €8m move this summer, but Relevo report that he is no longer part of Unai Emery’s plans this season. Barrenechea comes off the back a season on loan at Frosinone, where he was a regular, making 32 starts last season in Serie A.

Valencia are keen on a loan deal, and are close on terms with Villa says Matteo Moretto. The player is keen on the move too, and Los Che believe he would give them a jump in quality. It is mentioned that a deal could hinge on the exit of Andre Almeida or another midfielder.
Alternatively, Valencia are also close to an agreement with Levante for Pablo Martinez, who Valencia believe would be more of a long-term project, but would arrive permanently and is cheaper. Real Valladolid are also interested in Martinez though. Valencia do believe that an offer will arrive for Almeida before the end of the transfer window on Friday.
Thus far Valencia have managed to hang onto the majority of their best players this summer, despite Javi Guerra being on the verge of leaving, and interest in Pepelu too. Almeida would be a loss to Ruben Baraja, although his contributions have been hampered by injury over the last two seasons. If Barrenechea does arrive, it will be interesting to see how Baraja configures his midfield.
