Wolves confirm signing of Celta Vigo forward on loan deal

Wolves have confirmed the signing of Celta Vigo forward Jorgen Strand Larsen on a season-long loan deal. The 24-year-old leaves Celta after two seasons.

Strand Larsen joined Celta from Groningen for €12.4m, and scored 18 goals in 73 appearances, giving nine assists too. After a disappointing first campaign though, 16 of those goal contributions came this season.

The Midlands side note that the deal will become permanent if certain targets are met, while Celta describe the deal as a loan with an option to buy. Fabrizio Romano has said Wolverhampton Wanderers are obligated to buy him, citing the price tag at €30m.

While not clinical all the time in front of goal for Celta, he was one of the positives for a struggling side this season, and has shown during his time at Balaidos that there is much more to his game than just goals. His movement and link-up play should benefit Gary O’Neil’s side. Celta are believed to be in talks with Real Betis to bring Borja Iglesias back to his first club as Strand Larsen’s replacement.
