Barcelona will no doubt be nervously awaiting the return of star forward Robert Lewandowski from international duty, after a concerning 24 hours. La Liga’s top scorer did not start Poland’s 3-3 draw with Croatia, but came on in the 62nd minute, assisting the Polish equaliser.

Poland manager Michal Probierz confirmed that Lewandowski had not started due to a small injury, and hence they decided to bring him on. Once he got on the pitch though, he received no shortage of rough treament from the Croatian defence.

Goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was sent off for a challenge with Lewandowski where his studs caught the inside of his leg. The 36-year-old was then seen limping through the mix zone, although Sport report that he told the media ‘the leg is fine’.

All the same, Barcelona will no doubt be conducting tests when Lewandowski returns, conscious that Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are just around the corner next week. Lewandowski has 12 goals and 2 assists in his 11 appearances this season, and Barcelona’s most creative force in Lamine Yamal missed Spain’s win over Serbia last night due to a hamstring issue.
