Preseason friendlies tend to be devoid of competitive tension and players willing to put themselves on the line in the same way they might be during the season. There was no suggestion of that during RCD Mallorca‘s clash with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday though.
After Portuguese midfield enforcer Samu Costa fouled Jayson Molumby, the pair seemed to have words, before the West Brom man headbutted and then punched Costa, who responded in kind. The pair then fell to the floor battling each other before being separated by teammates.
It might be preseason, but Samu Costa is still getting under the skin of his opponents.

Both of them subsequently went off, and Costa could be seen shrugging off manager Jagoba Arrasate, looking frustrated with his manager, before pulling off his shirt and heading for the dressing room.
Mallorca did manage to get the win over West Brom in the end, with David Lopez following up a free-kick in the 65th minute. Los Bermellones now have four more friendlies against Poblense, Mirandes, Burgos and Bologna before opening their campaign against Real Madrid at Son Moix.
