Almeria had a dismal 2023-24 campaign, as they were soundly relegated from La Liga weeks before the season concluded. However, they did have a few bright sparks, one of which was Sergio Arribas.
Arribas, who signed from Real Madrid last summer, managed nine goals and four assists in just 22 starts. Many expect him to remain in La Liga following Almeria’s relegation, and Sevilla are one of the clubs showing interest in securing his signature, as per ED. Mallorca and Alaves are also keeping an eye on matters.
However, Almeria won’t make it easy for Arribas to leave, as they want to retain his services for the 2024-25 season, during which they will hope to secure an immediate return from La Liga. The 22-year-old would be a key player, something that he wasn’t last season despite his impressive form.
It remains to be seen whether Sevilla can get their man, or if even Mallorca or Alaves can win the race. For now, Arribas looks nailed at Almeria, with a departure not likely unless a significant fee is paid.
