A few weeks ago, it had looked likely that Quique Sanchez Flores would not be kept on by Sevilla, with plans having been drawn up to replace him in the summer. The likes of Jagoba Arrasate and Enzo Maresca have been touted for the position, although as it turns out, Los Nervionenses are not set to make no changes.
That’s because ED have reported that Sevilla intend to stick with Quique for next season, with talks expected to start over an extension to his current contract. He has been the backing of club president Jose Maria del Nido Carrasco, following an impressive run of just three defeats in 14 (seven wins).
Quique may be del Nido Carrasco’s first choice, but the same cannot be said for Victor Orta, Sevilla’s sporting director. He wants Real Madrid Castilla’s Raul Gonzalez to be the next manager, although at this stage, it looks like the president will win out in this battle.
