Real Madrid beat Liverpool to win the Champions League in Paris last month.
It was a remarkable way to finish an incredible campaign. Madrid had to consecutively beat Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City before facing Liverpool – one of the toughest runs to a final in recent times.
One of the most important characters in that run was Luka Modric. The Croatian is a competitive animal and delivered clutch moments when called upon.
Rodrygo Goes, speaking on vacation back home in Brazil, recalled an anecdote after the final that underlines Modric’s competitive edge. He said that when Mohamed Salah passed Modric after the game, Modric told him to try again next time.
He was evidently referencing the many interviews Salah gave before the game, continually claiming that he was out to get revenge on Madrid after Liverpool lost to the Spanish club in a previous Champions League final back in 2018.
Luka Modrić is just a killer. Rodrygo Goes says here that he told Mohamed Salah to try again next time when he passed him after winning the Champions League. Evidently all of the smack Salah was spouting pre-game didn’t go down well at Real Madrid. pic.twitter.com/EbsIbPztOD

Well Salah wanted a revenge.
Sometimes the sword cuts both ways.
