Real Madrid star ‘unhappy’ over Euro 2024 role with France

Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga has spoken out on his role for France at Euro 2024.

Camavinga ended the 2023/24 domestic season in Madrid with a La Liga and UEFA Champions League title double.

He started the Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund and started more games than in the previous campaign.

Despite floating between a cover role at left back, and his natural midfield slot, Camavinga has found it difficult to nail down a starting place at Euro 2024.

His two appearances in the competition group stages have come off the bench to replace Adrien Rabiot in midfield.

However, the 21-year-old admitted he was informed by Didier Deschamps that he would be a back up option, with the potential of playing in defence.

“At the beginning of the Euros, he told me what my role was going to be”, as per quotes from Marca.

“I’m not happy about not playing much, but I know my time will come.

“I still don’t enjoy playing in defence, that hasn’t changed. But I’m a team player, if I have to play at left back, I’ll give it my all.”

Camvinga is expected to again start on the bench as France face Belgium in the last 16 on July 1 in Dusseldorf.
