With Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez both at the age of 32, Real Madrid will soon need to go for another right-back. Currently, they have no obvious successor in their ranks, so a signing will need to be made.
Amid reports that Xabi Alonso could arrive in the summer of 2025 to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as head coach, a likely candidate to take the role could be Jeremie Frimpong, who has been in excellent form under Alonso’s tutelage at Bayer Leverkusen.
According to Christian Falk (via CaughtOffside), Real Madrid are interested in signing Frimpong, but they aren’t at the head of the queue for the Dutch international.
“Frimpong can go for €40m. The clause would have to be activated before the start of the European Championship in June. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester United have registered their interest in the Dutchman. The management of Frimpong is already in concrete talks with United and Bayern.”
€40m is an excellent price for Frimpong, although for now, Real Madrid do not seem to prioritise his signing. It will be interesting to see whether they make any moves, either this summer or next.
