Barcelona are continuing their search for a new left winger, having ended their summer-long interest in Nico Williams. Currently, Federico Chiesa is the favourite to join Hansi Flick’s squad, although the club’s dream signing is Rafael Leao – whom they were linked to earlier in the week.
Leao would be a statement signing for Barcelona, although their chances of doing a deal are almost impossible due to their ongoing financial woes. AC Milan wouldn’t play ball either, as was confirmed by their CEO, Giorgio Furlani, during an interview with El Chiringuito.
“Rafael Leao will not leave AC Milan this summer. Barcelona interest? No chance. No way. He’s not leaving, 100%. What if Rafa asks to leave? He’s not going to ask to leave the club. I think my message is quite clear.”

Furlani’s statements are very clear, and if Barcelona believed they had even the slightest chance of signing Leao, they shouldn’t anymore. For now, their focus should be on cleaning up their financial mess.
