Barcelona are ready to step up their transfer pursuit of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.
The Catalan giants have been heavily linked with a move for Williams ahead of the new season despite their financial issues.
Any possible deal has taken a key step in recent days with Barcelona club president Joan Laporta indicating he is ready to make a formal offer.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto reiterated to Football España that Barcelona need to make a sale to go for Williams, but he is confident they are close to an agreement on personal terms with the 22-year-old.
Athletic Club will not listen to offers which fall below Williams’ €58m release clause and Barcelona are considering a structured bid.
However, despite the growth of speculation, the winger insisted he is not focusing on comments from outside Bilbao.
“Anything that comes from outside does not interest me. I’m focused on this (the Euros) and that’s it”, he said.
No update is anticipated until next month with Williams set for an extended summer break after the final of Euro 2024.
