Earlier this week, it was reported by reputable sources that Mats Hummels had flown into Palma to hold talks with Mallorca. The 35-year-old defender, formerly of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, is currently a free agent.
However, the story involving Hummels and Mallorca has now been proven false. As per Marco Antonio Sande, an unauthorised agent has been responsible for the story, and has held alleged negotiating with the Balearic club without the consent of the German defender or his family/entourage.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this, and he has also noted that Real Sociedad are in negotiations with Hummels’ representatives.

Real Sociedad are in need of a new central defender following the sale of Robin Le Normand to Atletico Madrid, and Hummels would be a fantastic addition to a relatively young group of players. The club itself will be one to watch in the remaining days of the summer transfer window, as they are about to receive significant funds from Mikel Merino’s move to Arsenal.
