Last week it was revealed that Manchester United had been offered former Atletico Madrid centre-back Mario Hermoso, but it appears that no deal is close to happening. The Red Devils are keeping the Spanish market in mind to strengthen their defence though, with Leny Yoro out for several months.

According to The Athletic, United met with his agents in Madrid last week, but are not thought to be pursuing Hermoso, who has also been offered to Bologna, Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Inter. However they have also discussed former Barcelona and Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso, who has played in central defence too. That, said, there is no suggestion they will move for him imminently.
Roberto: "La Masia is the heart of the club and there is a lot of talent. If their dream is the same as mine, I would tell them not to stop working. This is the best club in the world and any effort will be worth it."

Alonso’s contract expired at Barcelona this summer, and there has been little mention of potential destinations for the 34-year-old, despite links to Atletico earlier in the year. His next destination remains an unknown, including for him at this point, following a year in which injury kept him from playing much at Barcelona.
