MD3 of the 2024-25 La Liga season continued on Tuesday with Mallorca and Sevilla facing off at Son Moix. It was far from a classic encounter, and while both teams had big chances to secure their opening victory of the campaign, they failed to do so.
Mallorca head coach Jagoba Arrasate opted to give a first start of the season to Leo Roman, who replaced Dominik Greif in goals. His decision was vindicated in the opening 45 minutes, as the 24-year-old made several big saves to keep the score at 0-0. However, Sevilla will feel that they should have scored at least one of these chances.
The hosts played much better in the second half, and they had big chances of their own to win. In consecutive minutes, Vedat Muriqi was denied by Orjan Nyland before Samu Costa headed over the bar from a few yards out.
Saul Niguez was shown a second yellow card late on Sevilla, but it could not be capitalised upon by Mallorca. Both teams now move on to two points as a result of this goalless draw.
