Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain refused to comment on links with Atletico Madrid after Argentina’s 4-1 win against Venezuela in the Copa America quarter-finals.
Higuain scored a brace as Argentina set up a semi-final date with tournament hosts United States, and he chose not to confirm or deny the speculation when the question about Atleti was put to him after Saturday’s match.
“[On Atleti], I’m just thinking about the team,” the former Real Madrid attacker was quoted as saying by AS.
“[On his goals], I was calm because I knew that at some point the goals would come.
“It was an important game that we played like our Coach wanted us to.
“We have to think [about USA] because we have little time to rest. Our heads must be already in the game.”
