One week ago, Atletico Madrid announced the departure of Mario Hermoso upon the expiry of his contract. Los Colchoneros tried to convince him to extend his stay at the Civitas Metropolitano, but it was in vain.

Atleti have moved on, and they want to sign David Hancko as Hermoso’s replacement. Negotiations have been ongoing with Feyenoord over the last couple of weeks, and there is hope that an agreement could be finalised in the very near future. As for Hermoso, he’s also close to joining a new club.
As reported by Tuttosport (via MD), Hermoso has given the green light to sign for Inter Milan. A number of Italian clubs have registered their interest in the 29-year-old centre-back, but it appears that the Nerazzurri have won the race for his signature.
If Hermoso does complete a move to Inter, he could face Atletico Madrid in next season’s Champions League. The two teams met in last season’s competition, with Diego Simeone’s winning their RO16 tie on penalties after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.
