Real Valladolid midfielder Patrick Ebert is hoping he can return to action in Sunday’s game with Getafe.
The German fractured the carpal bone in his right hand against Osasuna two weeks ago, yet after visiting a doctor in Germany this week is hoping to be back for the match at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
“Something was wrong with my hand so I had an arthroscopy and had it cleaned up. A specialist in Berlin operated on me and told me I could train and play again,” he explained at a Press conference.
“I trained on Wednesday and now it’s not my decision whether I play or not. I’m ready and I want to play but it is the Coach who decides.
“We’ll see how the rest of training goes this week but I feel fine and there will be no problem for me to play on Sunday.”
The 25-year-old, signed from Hertha Berlin at the start of this season, was asked about supposed interest from Valencia as revealed in AS this week.
“I don’t read the newspapers. I give my best for the team in every training session and every game. These are issues for my representative and I don’t care for such matters,” he replied.
Ebert scored a goal in the Osasuna game with an elaborate chip despite having injured his hand, although he attempted to play it down.
“I don’t know if it’s the best goal I’ve scored or not. I don’t score many goals so if I score or Oscar scores then I am equally happy.
“The most important thing was that we got three points from a very difficult game. We got some luck and won a tough match.
“What is the best I’ve ever scored? I got one in a friendly against Real Madrid, which was great for me, but it didn’t count as much as it was not a competitive game.
“I’m sure I’ll score more goals but the important thing is that the team does,” he added.
