Barcelona have remained as the only team with a 100% record in La Liga this season. They did it the hard way, coming from behind – for the second successive away match – to defeat Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas.
Full time: Rayo Vallecano 1-2 FC Barcelona.
That was intense.

The hosts started at a furious pace, and inside the opening 10 minutes, they found themselves ahead. Jorge de Frutos’ cutback was turned in by Unai Lopez, who made it back-to-back goals against Barcelona at Vallecas – he scored in last season’s 1-1 draw.
Dani Olmo, making his debut, was introduced at half time with Hansi Flick. He could have won a penalty soon after coming on, but minutes later, Barcelona did get their equaliser. Good play between Raphinha and Pedri allowed the latter to score his first goal of the season.
Robert Lewandowski thought he had his third of the campaign when he scored to make it 2-1, but a foul in the build-up saw his effort ruled out. Fortunately for Barcelona, it didn’t matter as Olmo scored the winner on his debut after being set up by Lamine Yamal.
The result keeps Barcelona at the top of the La Liga standings, and it also ends their poor recent form at Vallecas, where they previously had not won in three years. There may be troubles off the pitch, but things on-field are looking good for the Catalans.
