Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra burst onto the scene in spring of 2023, scoring a crucial goal to keep Los Che up. Since, the 21-year-old has continued to capture the eye, and is now one of the most coveted young midfielders in Europe.
After Manchester United and Newcastle United enquired about him last season, Napoli were the latest to knock on his door over the weekend, but so far their interest has not gone any further. However it is the City Group that have been strongest in their interest so far, with two offers already rejected.
As per Matteo Moretto on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, Girona had a bid of €12m plus bonuses rejected, and then a second offer of €15m plus bonuses that has been turned down too. They are now weighing up a third offer, with both Girona and the City Group believing that he could be a useful asset for them.
Guerra has also been linked to Barcelona as a potential long-term pivot option, but it appears the Blaugrana are looking elsewhere currently, with their efforts focused on signing Nico Williams. Certainly Guerra has shown he has the potential to be a top midfielder, showing ability in front of goal, skill when escaping pressure, and an excellent understanding of the game.
