Samu Omorodion

Chelsea hold fresh talks with Atletico Madrid over target that would command “big fee”

In recent weeks, Chelsea have made multiple moves to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion. The 20-year-old is off the back of a promising season at Alaves, and while he’s projected to feature for Los Colchoneros in 2024-25, there is a chance that he ends up in West London.

So far, Atleti have turned down every offer received from Chelsea for Samu, with the highest being worth a reported €50m. These rejections have not deterred the Premier League giants, who held fresh talks with Atleti earlier this week in regards to the Spain U21 international, as reported by Rahman Osman.

Chelsea remain seriously interested in Samu, and while they seem best-placed to sign him, they aren’t the only Premier League club. West Ham United are reported to have sent an enquiry to Atleti.

The likelihood is that Atletico Madrid will continue to hold firm on Samu, with their asking price expected to be close to his €80m release clause. That may be too much for Chelsea – those in the offices at the Civitas Metropolitano will hope so anyway.
