James Rodriguez is reportedly keen on a return to Europe, and four years after leaving Real Madrid, he could be set for a return to La Liga – no less than three clubs are showing interest in his services.
As reported by COPE (via MD), Celta Vigo are pushing the hardest to sign Rodriguez, who’s currently on the books at Brazilian side Sao Paulo. A two-year contract has already been presented to the 33-year-old, who received the Player of the Tournament award at the 2024 Copa America.
Real Betis have also made an offer for Rodriguez, according to the report. However, they are currently unable to sign him because of Financial Fair Play issues, but once those are sorted, they’d be free to register him with La Liga.
Atletico Madrid are also keen on Rodriguez, but as of yet, they have not made a move to sign the Colombian playmaker. It will be very interesting to see whether he does make a return to La Liga this summer – it would be magic, anyway.
Since Betis stabbed the Panda in the back and Cadiz are now relegated, Celta Vigo are my new favorite La Liga first division team to follow. Would love to see James team up with Iglesias and Aspas. You would be talking about a serious Champions League qualifier next year.
