Benfica devise plan to “force” signing of Joao Felix

Like last summer, Joao Felix will be a player to watch during the final weeks of the transfer window. He’s not expected to remain at Atletico Madrid for the 2024-25 campaign, despite having impressed over the last couple of weeks during pre-season.

As things stand, Benfica and Aston Villa have been pushing hardest to sign Felix – Barcelona are also there, although they do not consider a move for the 24-year-old to be a priority, especially considering the options that they already have in attack.

Atleti are currently only considering the sale of Felix, but they could relax their demands as the month goes on. Benfica are banking on this, with Record (via Diario AS) reporting that the Portuguese side’s plan is to wait until Los Colchoneros are “forced” into doing a deal.

Benfica cannot afford to re-sign Felix at this stage, as confirmed by their president – Rui Costa – last week. They are determined to make sure that Atletico Madrid lower their asking price as time goes on, although it’s far from certain that this will be the case.
