Dest had been having an excellent season at PSV, who can confirm themselves at Dutch champions this week. As such, plans had been put in place to trigger the buy option in the loan agreement with Barcelona, worth €10m. However, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the chances of this happening are reduced because of the injury.

Barcelona will be desperate to get rid of Dest this summer, so that funds can be raised for new signings. An agreement with PSV could still come, but it now seems more likely that the buy option won’t be triggered, with negotiations over a lower fee being opened instead.
