Roberto had looked certain to stay on when Xavi Hernandez was still in charge, but given that Hansi Flick has now taken the reins, it means that his situation looks rather unclear. According to Relevo, Barcelona bosses are in no rush to address Roberto’s case, as other areas are currently taking precedence.
Specifically, Barcelona are working on registering Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Inigo Martinez and Vitor Roque with La Liga for next season, as none are currently on the first team’s books for the 2024-25 campaign as things stand – players need to be moved in order to create space in the salary cap.
Given this, it looks very difficult for Roberto to remain at Barcelona. He may be one of the lowest earners in the first team, but if he has no place under Flick, the space generated would be better served being used on another player.
