Barcelona have a number of returning loanees this summer, with varying fates planned for them. While many expect the Blaugrana to try and raise funds through sales of players, including the loan players, but Eric Garcia looks as if he will have another shot in Blaugrana next season.
The 24-year-old centre-back told the media in the lead up to Girona’s win over Barcelona that he would return to his parent club and decide his future then, while manager Xavi Hernandez has also said that he wants Garcia back in his team over the summer. MD claim that this will indeed be the case, and that the plan is for him to be available to Xavi next season.
Meanwhile 22-year-old Julian Araujo, on loan at Las Palmas this season, will be given a chance to prove his worth to Xavi in preseason before a decision is made, as will be the case with current Levante left-back Alex Valle, who spent last preseason with Barcelona’s first team.
🚨 Ansu Fati has yet to play a single minute for the third consecutive game at Brighton. It appears increasingly likely that his loan will not be extended, and he is considering a return to Barça next summer. He aims to convince Xavi during the preseason. @sport 🇪🇦 pic.twitter.com/v8sYdM9OV3

The former has had a good first showing in La Liga under Garcia Pimienta, but a four-game red card ban combined with a muscle injury that kept him out for a month has restricted the Mexico international to just three starts in 2024. Similarly with Valle, he was a regular for Levante in Segunda, but since Felipe Minambres took over from Javi Calleja, has made just one start in the last three months, following a change of system.
Garcia on the other hand has been talked about as a top target for Girona previously, with a potential cost of €15-20m to pry him away from Barcelona. Certainly as a player who is not a priority, few would categorically rule out a sale for anyone in the Blaugrana squad.
