The battle for sponsorship of Barcelona’s kit in the coming years has been framed as a straight battle between Nike and Puma, which will be heavily dependent on how much money the Blaugrana can earn, as they try to maximise their revenue sources. However there is at least a third brand on the scene too.
Danish paper Tippsbladet have reported that sportswear brand Hummel are also in talks with the Blaugrana over a potential deal to become their kit sponsor. Director Christian Stadil would neither confirm nor deny talks, but certainly calling Barcelona the biggest club in the world will go down well in Can Barca.
“There are different conversations ongoing with various clubs in Europe. I cannot elaborate further.”
“Of course, it could be interesting, and thus I do not confirm that there is dialogue. But if there were, it could be super interesting. It’s the club in the world that sells the most jerseys, and it’s the world’s biggest football club. It could be exciting to have Barcelona or another club in that league with Hummel.”
Everton, Real Betis, Southampton and the Danish national team are all sides are sponsored by Hummel, but securing a deal with the Blaugrana would represent a major coup for them, blowing any of the other deals out of the water.
Currently Barcelona are believed to be making around €85m plus €20m in variables with Nike, in a deal that runs until 2028. It is also reported that the Blaugrana would have to pay €40-50m in order to get out that contract, another cost that Barcelona would presumably want covered in any deal.
