Earlier this month, Barcelona confirmed the departure of Sergi Roberto. The 32-year-old saw his contract run out on the 30th of June, but his exit was not made official until weeks later due to the club’s attempts to re-sign their former captain, which fell through in the end due of financial reasons.
Roberto has been assessing his options since leaving Barcelona. His preference had been to join a Premier League club, but a sufficient offer has not arrived. Instead, he will join up with a familiar face in Italy.
As per Matteo Moretto, Roberto is set to join Serie A newcomers Como. A one-year deal has been agreed between the two parties, with the final details are currently being negotiated on.

Roberto will be reunited with Cesc Fabregas, who is Como’s manager. The pair played together at Barcelona from 2011 to 2014, and they will now work to ensure that relegation from Serie A is avoided this season.
