Barcelona exit confirmed as terms are finalised – second departure expected today

Barcelona have been working on trimming their squad this summer ever since Dani Olmo arrived at the club, with the Euro 2024-winner yet to be registered. He spent their second game at Montjuic in the stands as the Blaugrana won 2-1 over Athletic Club, but two more exits that could see him join the team for their next clash against Rayo Vallecano.

Brazilian striker Vitor Roque has already arrived in Seville to complete a loan switch to Real Betis, which will see Los Verdiblancos have a chance to extend his loan. Matteo Moretto says Betis will cover his €3.5m salary, while Barcelona will have the chance to bring him back next summer should they desire. Betis will have a buy option on Roque too, while Betis will retain a sell-on percentage if he returns to Barcelona.

As per Roger Torello of MD, Betis can buy 80% of Roque’s rights for €25m plus variables, and Barcelona will have a €27.5m buyback option too.

Real Betis confirmed the signing on Monday morning, as did Barcelona, noting the option to buy and the option to extend the loan. He joins Manuel Pellegrini’s side as a candidate to start up front at the Benito Villamarin, with Chimy Avila and Cedric Bakambu the only other natural options for Pellegrini to pick from.

Barcelona are also expected to confirm the loan of Clement Lenglet later on Monday, who will join Atletico Madrid on loan after extending his contract in Catalonia for an extra year until 2027. It is not yet clear whether both of these moves would be sufficient for the Blaugrana to register Olmo. The signing of Roque, for €30m plus €31m in variables on a seven-year deal, has been widely criticised, but he will now have a chance to get more game time at Betis, and show his worth.
