Barcelona are reportedly keen to sign another full-back before the summer transfer window closes. They’ve been linked with Joao Cancelo relentlessly over the past few weeks, but a return to Catalonia for the Portuguese star is looking increasingly unlikely. As such, other options are starting to come to the fore.
According to Relevo, one player being considered by Barcelona is Marc Pubill. The 21-year-old was part of the Spain squad that won the gold medal at this summer’s Olympic Games, and he has been tipped to leave Almeria.
Breaking: Barcelona are going to try and sign Almería right-back Marc Pubill (21), who would be delighted to sign for Barça. He could very well be a surprise signing in the final stretch of the transfer window. @hugocerezo 🇪🇸 pic.twitter.com/KATfIkcBrm

A move to Atalanta recently broke down at the 11th hour, and now Pubill could be staying closer to home. On that occasion, Almeria accepted a €20m offer, so it’s likely that they would demand a similar fee if Barcelona were to come calling.
Pubill would welcome a move to Barcelona, where he would be competing with Jules Kounde, Hector Fort and Alex Valle for the starting spot at right-back. Taking this into consideration, it would be very bizarre if they were to target a move for him, especially if he does still cost in the region of €20m.
