Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto is set to make his departure public this week, and it looks as if Serie A is his most likely destination. The 32-year-old’s contract expired at the end of June, but there has been no announcement from either player or club on his future.
That much is expected at some point this week, with a press conference reportedly being prepared, to see off the veteran who has been at the club since he was 14. Roberto had a three-year spell where he was starting at right-back for the Blaugrana, but since has played a rotational role, and has battled injuries in the last two years.

According to Matteo Moretto, Fiorentina are interested in Roberto, and he will be an option for them this summer. He told Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that news can be expected on Roberto’s future in the coming week, with La Viola a concrete option for the Catalan. He has also been offered to Como and Roma, while Ajax were also linked with him in recent weeks too.
While it looked certain that Roberto would be leaving for some time, the fact that pictures were seen on Friday of Dani Olmo with a number 20 shirt, Roberto’s old number, seemed to all but confirm that he would not be returning. Roberto will take ample experience to his next side, after over a decade as part of Barcelona’s first team.
