Atletico Madrid’s forward line will be changed over the summer, albeit it won’t be a drastic as it once seemed. Memphis Depay has already departed, Angel Correa may join him in doing so, although it’s already been decided that Alvaro Morata will be staying, despite strong interest from Saudi Arabia.
Memphis’ exit opens up a space in Diego Simeone’s attacking options. Samu Omorodion may fill in following his promising loan spell at Alaves, while there is also talk of a move being made for Girona’s Artem Dovbyk. One player that won’t be with Cholo next season is his own son, Giuliano Simeone.
Giuliano also spent last season at Alaves, and Relevo have reported that he will be returning to Vitoria for the 2024-25 campaign. An agreement in principle has been reached for the Argentine to continue in Luis Garcia Plaza’s squad, and given that Samu has returned to Atleti, he should earn more minutes going forward.
Getafe were also interested in signing Giuliano, but they arrived too late, with an agreement between Atletico Madrid and Alaves having already been very advanced. Barring any hiccups, the 21-year-old will be back at the Mendizorroza.
