Back in May 2013, Andrea Berta joined Atletico Madrid as a scout. He would go on to become the club’s technical director, before eventually being appointed as sporting director – a position he has held since 2017. However, his time in that role – and at Los Colchoneros – looks to be coming to an end.
Berta has always been highly-valued at Atleti, but no more. According to Relevo, he has “lost the internal war” at the club, and because of this, he is set to leave when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
💣🚨 BREAKING: Andrea Berta loses the internal battle at Atlético Madrid and is more outside than in the club.
The departure of the sporting director is considered a done deal, either at the end of the season or even sooner.

At the club, they believe that Berta’s cycle has ended – this has been seen in certain situations that occurred during the transfer market until now.
The current idea is for Berta to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of this season, although he may depart sooner if it is deemed necessary. Either way, he will not be involved from next summer’s transfer window onwards.
