With it being the 30th of June, a large number of players across Spain see their contracts expire. Atletico Madrid are one of the La Liga sides affected by this, and they have now announced the official departures of three notable first team players.
Mario Hermoso was someone Atleti tried to renew, but the terms presented to him were deemed as unacceptable. He will now depart for a new club, although he has yet to agree terms with anyone yet. Gabriel Paulista’s contract is also up, and he has already signed for Turkish side Besiktas.
Never said a bad word about the club. Never disrespected anyone. Always defended the shield with pride and stepped up to defend his teammates when no one else did.
Thank you for defending the Atlético Madrid shield, Mario. You will be missed.

The final player whose departure has been confirmed is Memphis Depay. A few weeks ago, the player himself announced that he had agreed a mutual contract termination with Atleti, who did not count on him for next season. He’s currently at Euro 2024 with The Netherlands, after which he did surely decide his future.
Hermoso, Memphis y Paulista no continuarán como rojiblancos la próxima temporada.
¡Os deseamos mucha suerte en vuestros próximos retos profesionales y personales!

It’s the start of a very busy summer for Atletico Madrid. Significant squad overhaul is expected, and they are already close to their first summer signing: Robin Le Normand. A deal should be completed very soon.
