Athletic Club will be without Nico Williams for their weekend La Liga clash with Celta Vigo on September 22.
The Basque side picked up a vital 2-0 midweek win on the road at Leganes to record successive away victories.
However, despite the positivity of a win in the capital, talisman Williams was forced off at half time with an injury.
As the schedule steps up in the coming weeks, including the start of their UEFA Europa League campaign at AS Roma next week, head coach Ernesto Valverde offered an update on Williams’ fitness.
“He has a sprained ankle. We’ll see if he can recover for Sunday, which will be difficult, and we’ll see if he’s ready for next week”, as per post-match reports from Marca.
Valverde’s prognosis for Celta means a reshuffle is likely, with his chances of heading to Rome in the balance, depending on how the injury evolves.
Valverde’s charges have five games before the October international break with three in domestic action and two in Europe.
