The future of Joao Felix continues to be clouded in uncertainty. He’s back at Atletico Madrid for pre-season, but the chances of him remaining there at the end of the summer are extremely slim. Barcelona are not trying to re-sign him at the moment, which has left Aston Villa and Benfica as frontrunners for his signature.
The former had been seen as favourites, but now, that is not the case. That’s according to Record (via MD), who say that Aston Villa have cooled their interest in Felix – their reasons for doing so are unclear.

Furthermore, Benfica have heated up their interest, and they are now said to be back in talks to re-sign the 24-year-old. It would have to be on a permanent basis, as Atleti are not planning to accept any loan offers between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
It remains to be seen how Felix’s situation progresses over the coming weeks. His sale would greatly help out Atletico Madrid, who are planning further big-money moves in the transfer market.
