Ansu Fati preference will shape future as Barcelona seek exit

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is on the outside looking in at their squad next season, and although he is keen to show what he can do in front of new manager Hansi Flick in preseason, the Blaugrana are looking at ways to move him out this summer.

That looks most likely to be on loan, and with an increasingly large salary, Barcelona have their work cut out to find a side willing to cover much of it following his unsuccessful spell at Brighton. Fati, 21, is still keen to find a way to stay, but Matteo Moretto has revealed to Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that he would rather stay in Spain next season if he is to leave.

At any rate, despite links to Olympique Marseille, Roberto de Zerbi’s new side are not moving for Fati currently.

Sevilla had been linked to Fati, which was where he moved to Barcelona from, but Los Nervionenses are unlikely to cover a large chunk of his wages. If Barcelona cannot find a good home for him this summer, there is a good chance they are in the same situation next year too, having paid much of his salary again. With little money to spare in La Liga budgets this summer, it seems unlikely many sides will take a risk on him, making his exit a trickier task.
