Dani Alves has advised Neymar to “be quiet and learn” from his mistakes following Brazil’s 2-1 win against Venezuela on Sunday.
Barring an appeal, the forward will miss the remainder of Copa America for his post-Colombia antics last week, and his Barcelona teammate, despite making clear his contempt for the severity of the punishment, believes he is best served to refrain from making any further noises to the Press.
“I told him to be quiet and learn from all this so he doesn’t repeat these mistakes, which have ultimately hurt Brazil,” he said after the Selecao’s progression to the quarter-finals.
“The punishment was too severe. If it had been another player then there would not have been such an impact. It’s bad for us as we’ve lost our difference-maker.
“He’s a player who gets kicked around, but we don’t give [those things] importance. Football is far more beautiful than that, it’s about the great moves and goals.”
